California Garden Chickpeas, drained - 1 can
Vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons
Chicken breast, cubed - 700 grams
Onion, finely cubed - 1
Garlic cloves, minced - 4
Turmeric - 2 teaspoons
Yellow curry powder - 2 tablespoons
Garam masala - 2 teaspoons
Cardamom powder - ½ teaspoon
Ginger, grated - 2 tablespoons
Chicken stock - 1½ cups
Salt - to taste
Black pepper - to taste
Yogurt - 1 cup
Basmati rice, cooked - 4 cups
Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chicken cubes, brown it for 4-5 minutes then transfer to a dish and set aside.
To the same pan, add onion and garlic. Sauté until tender, then add turmeric, curry, garam masala and cardamom. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
Return browned chicken to the pan. Add ginger and chicken stock. Season with salt and black pepper. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes.
Add yogurt and California Garden chickpeas. Stir well and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes.
Serve alongside cooked basmati rice.
