Ingredients

  • To prepare the shell:

  • 400 grams Bulgur soaked in water, drained

  • 1 Onion

  • 500 grams Finely ground meat

  • 1 teaspoon Salt

  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper

  • To prepare the stuffing:

  • ¼ cup Vegetable oil

  • 1 Large-sized onion, chopped

  • 400 grams Minced meat

  • 1 teaspoon Salt

  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon Ground cinnamon

  • ¼ cup Toasted walnuts, crushed

  • 3 tablespoons Pomegranate molasses

  • 1 can California Garden Hommos Tahina Dip

  • For frying:

  • 5 cups Vegetable oil

Preparation

Step 1

To prepare the shell, drain bulgur well and place into a food processor. Add onion and process until combined. Transfer to a bowl, then add meat, salt and black pepper. Using your hands, mix ingredients until combined.

Step 2

To prepare the stuffing, heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until translucent. Add minced meat and season with salt, black pepper and ground cinnamon. Add toasted walnuts and stir. When cooked through, add pomegranate molasses. Mix until combined, then remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.

Step 3

Divide the shell mixture into 40 small-sized balls. Using your index finger, make a hole in the middle of each ball. If mixture gets too sticky on hands, dip into a bowl of ice water.

Step 4

Heat vegetable oil in a pot over medium heat. Fry the meat balls until deep browned. Remove from heat and fill with the stuffing mixture. Fill a piping bag with California Garden Hommos Tahina Dip and pipe over the top of each kibbeh ball then serve.
